St Clair Welcomes New Residents
21 January 2011
Newlyweds Nghia and Belinda Nguyen, both 28, recently moved into the new St Clair development at Cheltenham.Newsagency owner Nghia, and Belinda, who is a radiation therapist, moved into their new home last month after getting married.
“We moved into our new home at St Clair unofficially after the handover at the beginning of September, but more officially after our recent wedding, on November 13,” Nghia says.
“We built a semi-custom designed home with Rossdale Homes. Rossdale Homes allow you to take a design and change it to your own specifications, which is what we did.”
Nghia explains that he and Belinda chose the St Clair development because they liked the idea of a new housing area built from scratch.
“St Clair is also close to of where we were currently living, in the western suburbs,” Nghia explains.
“The best thing about the location is that it is close to everything – the CBD, beaches, schools and shopping centres. It’s also really easy to access trains and buses. For us personally, the location is great because we are close to family, friends, and not too far from work.”
While the development is in its early stages, Nghia and Belinda can’t wait for the planned vision for St Clair to continue coming to life.
“We liked the idea of open space, the parklands and ovals, things people can use once you step outside your home. There’s lots of green around the area and places for families to spend time.
“I’m looking forward to the shopping precinct which is planned, and I love the new and modern infrastructure. The houses have such fresh and contemporary designs.”
Nghia is excited about finishing their house, as they still have a few projects to be completed, and then perhaps if time and finances permit, heading off for a well-deserved honeymoon.
“And at some stage in the future, we would like to start a family – we think this will be a great place to bring up children.
“We plan to spend our first Christmas in our new home. We’re inviting our whole family over for lunch and dinner. Being around family at this time of year is always a great feeling.”
St Clair Project Director Rob Bau says they are excited to welcome new residents like Nghia and Belinda.
“As works take shape and develop, we are now starting to see all the plans coming to life. To see new residents using the facilities and outdoor space is fantastic,” Mr Bau says.
“We have a number of new residents that have moved into their homes over the last couple of months and we look forward to the community growing in the year to come.”
Features of St Clair include:
• 22 hectares open space connected by a network of pedestrian and cycle paths (35% of the whole project is open space);
• Wetlands, including leading water sensitive urban design initiatives to harvest and re-use stormwater for long term sustainability;
• Approximately 1,200 new homes providing a diversity of housing types to appeal to a wide range of people and households; and
• Retail, recreational and community facilities;
• Direct train link with the CBD with a planned new St Clair station, to be located close to Cheltenham Parade.
