$0NEW ALLIANCE TO OPEN UP CAREER PATHS$0$0FOR WOODVILLE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS$0$0$0$0 $0$0A new Employment and Training Alliance between St Clair developers Urban Pacific and AVJennings and Woodville High School is set to open up career paths for the school’s students by giving them practical experience in construction, landscaping, marketing, community planning and urban design.$0$0 $0$0Students will be provided with opportunities to receive accredited training in the residential development industry.$0$0 $0$0Brokered by Western Futures, the alliance agreement, which was signed today by all parties, is part of the developer’s commitment to fostering sustainable community relationships through the St Clair development.$0$0 $0$0Among the initiatives proposed to be developed as part of the alliance is a unique open space within the St Clair development that will be designed, built and managed by Woodville High School students.$0$0 $0$0Other initiatives include plant propagation for St Clair’s reserves, revegetation projects, wetlands education programs and landscape construction and maintenance. The current school community garden will be expanded to manage the propagation of native plants and trees.$0$0 $0$0St Clair Project Director Rob Bau said the alliance will engage students with the broad range of disciplines and skills required in the residential development sector. $0$0 $0$0“The alliance will provide additional opportunities for students to be part of the school’s Doorway to Construction Certificate program.  However, we wanted to make sure the alliance also gave other students a chance to gain knowledge and experience in other careers within residential development.$0$0 $0$0“St Clair will be home to over 22 hectares (or the equivalent to 11 AAMI Stadiums) of open space including an urban wetland featuring boardwalks and interpretive trails and newly created parklands. These settings coupled with our focus on the environment and sustainable living provides significant learning opportunities in urban design, planning and landscaping.$0$0 $0$0“Students will have a hand in creating and maintaining open space that will be enjoyed not only by St Clair residents but the wider local community because of its accessibility.$0$0 $0$0“We also plan to engage students in the marketing and administration of one of the Australia’s largest infill projects.$0$0 $0$0“The alliance is part of our aim to ensure St Clair becomes a vibrant inner metropolitan neighbourhood, which forms part of the current community.”$0$0 $0$0Woodville High School Principal Meredith Edwards said the alliance will give students the opportunity to gain experience, skills and knowledge in the world of work. “This will assist them to make informed career choices and take advantage of emerging opportunities in the residential development industry.”$0$0 $0$0“The school congratulates the developers on broadening the experience provided to students beyond construction.$0$0 $0$0Education Minister Jay Weatherill said “the partnership is a great example of schools preparing their students for work and community life”.$0$0 $0$0“Woodville High School is looking beyond the school gate and working together with parents, employers and community groups to ensure it is providing real career opportunities for all of its students.” $0$0 $0$0St Clair and Woodville High School are integral to the western suburbs community and this alliance provides us with an opportunity to grow together.”$0$0 $0$0St Clair is being developed by Joint Venture partners AVJennings and Urban Pacific and will include approximately 1200 new homes in a wide variety of dwelling styles and price ranges; an urban wetland featuring boardwalks and interpretive trails; stormwater capture via aquifer storage and recycling; large areas of parkland and a town centre with shops and cafes.$0$0 $0$0Work on the development is progressing well with more than 160 lots sold, 20 homes in the display village now open with 17 to follow and works to soon commence on roads, footpaths and services throughout St Clair.$0$0 $0$0The St Clair development is a joint venture between AVJennings and Urban Pacific, in collaboration with the Government of South Australia through the Land Management Corporation and City of Charles Sturt.$0$0 $0$0$0$0Councillor Tolley Wasylenko, Brian Virgo of AVJennings Developments, Mayor Harold Anderson, Helen Nowosilskyj from Western Futures and Rosa Vause of Woodville High School$0$0 $0$0$0$0The Hon.
