Coles Coming to St Clair
Coles will begin construction early next year on the St Clair Shopping Centre after their plans were formally approved last week by the City of Charles Sturt Council.
A new full-line 3500sqm Coles supermarket and up to 20 specialty shops and
1650sqm of commercial office space will be developed under the plan. More than
300 car parks will also be established.
The market-style supermarket will include a huge range of fresh, local
products, and will represent one of the most up-to-date Coles stores in the
country incorporating an in-store butcher, seafood specialists and qualified
bakers.
Set to open in 2013, the shopping centre will be built on Cheltenham Parade as
part of the eagerly anticipated $78m St Clair Town Centre.
St Clair Project Director Mark Devine is excited to welcome Coles into
the development and is thrilled that plans for the supermarket and retail
centre have been approved.
“Coles is a household brand in Australia and a recognised leader in retailing,
and their presence will help attract high quality speciality stores to the
retail centre,” said Mr Devine.
“The retail centre will anchor the multi-faceted St Clair Town Centre that will
cover more than 2.5 hectares and also include a Village Square, pedestrian
focused High Street, community sporting club and bistro, and the St Clair
Railway Station and Station Plaza.
“The Town Centre is one of Adelaide’s first true transit-orientated
developments with retail, employment and residential uses all coming together
in a master planned community.
“Including the new Coles supermarket and retail shopping centre, 2012 will see
over $50 million in construction activity that will transform St Clair, with
the Town Centre, new rail station and wetland all set to commence construction
next year.”
