St Clair teams up with local clubs
22 November 2010
Reflecting its commitment to active living, as well as forging strong ties to the local community, St Clair has initiated an exciting community partnership with two high profile local sporting clubs; Garville Netball Club and the Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club. This sponsorship will see players from these historic and popular clubs engage with the St Clair community through club training sessions, public events and come ‘n try activities.
Both clubs already have strong links with the area. In 1952, the Garville Netball Club was founded – its name originating from the suburb of Woodville Gardens, where the club’s first training courts were located. Many local girls started their netball careers with the club before going on to represent South Australia and Australia. Garville hopes to return to a Woodville base for the 2011 season.
The Port Adelaide Football Club is synonymous with the western suburbs and in particular, Port Adelaide, Alberton, and Cheltenham where St Clair is located. It is anticipated that the club will be one of the first to use the new St Clair Reserve, holding preseason training sessions on the new oval.
